High Net Worth Individual vs. Sophisticated Investor: Definitions and Eligibility Criteria

Am I a High Net Worth Individual or a Sophisticated Investor?

In order to invest with Cur8 Capital you need to qualify either as a High Net Worth Individual or a Sophisticated Investor. 

These categories are governed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and its subsequent Financial Promotion Order. These classifications and the accompanying regulations are designed to protect investors by helping them understand some of the most common risks they might come across when using financial services.

If you meet any of the requirements listed below, you are eligible to invest with Cur8 Capital.

Certified High Net Worth Individual

Have an annual income in excess of £100,000 or

Have net assets in excess of £250,000, excluding your pension fund assets and your private residence.

Certified Sophisticated Investor

You have been a director of a company turning over at least £1 million within the last two years.

You have been a member of a network or syndicate of business angels for at least the last six months.

You have worked in the past two years in a professional capacity in the private equity sector or in the provision of finance for small and medium enterprises.

As an FCA-authorised and regulated syndicate, joining Cur8 gives you the opportunity to become part of a network of investors.

By actively participating in our Investor Club community and deepening your understanding of the investing over a six month period, you’ll build the foundation needed to certify yourself as a sophisticated investor.

Once you reach this six month milestone through active engagement in the Investor Club, you may complete our eligibility registration to self-certify and gain access to the Cur8 platform.
